It's more than a possibility guys, as I noted above...

What is your source though? I am not saying your wrong or right. But information like this would be very hard to keep under wraps in this day and age.

I met with some folks from HOK today on another matter and they confirmed that the new dome won't be ready until mid-2017. This is a real bummer for Atlanta Soccer fans hoping to create early and lasting momentum from our inaugural season....

So "mid-2017" still lines up with AU's statement that home matches will begin in June 2017. June, the 6th month of any year, is still exactly the midpoint of any year. I'm still not sure what makes you think there's any discrepancy at all with AU's statement and promise. Like CoachJD, I'm not saying you're wrong but I still don't understand what basis you're making for saying AU won't play in the new stadium.

HOK knows considerably less about the construction schedule than CG gives them credit for.

Looks like in the press conference announcing the new food and beverage pricing it was said that they are still on for a June opening.

EDIT: The article is about the food and beverage pricing. The Press conference itself mentioned the stadium opening in June still. Didn't mean to confuse anything. DirtySouthSoccer tweeted it out as a statement from Arthur Blank.

EDIT 2: link to tweet

Where does it mention June? Only line I read was "Upon opening in 2017"

TIA

It was mentioned in the press conference. It isn't in the article. Sorry for any misunderstanding.

As a fan... I hope he is correct... Want to watch the first season there...

I am still concerned that they are behind... But don't want to reveal that with sales ongoing and a Super Biwl bid pending... Too much incentive to spin the truth...

If they're concerned about a delay affecting the Super Bowl bid that's really bad news since the earliest bid date is for the 2019 SB :)

There is an unwritten rule that NFL stadiums need to be open 2 full season before the first Super Bowl...

Plus... The food prices were announced just before the bid vote...

Like I said... Hope we are playing there June 2017....

Was told this weekend that the first half of season will be played on the road. All home games WILL be at the new stadium.

FYI, there remain some indications that technical difficulties with the roof construction will delay opening of the new dome beyond June, 2017, despite the recent reassurances by the team.

The rumors regarding the construction difficulties/delays continue and were recently broadcast on Atlanta talk radio.

I do not believe that the team is being transparent in its marketing efforts, particularly as it relates to the new dome's opening date -- which may not be until 2018 for ATLUTD.

Sorry but I'm not buying into the rhetoric. The roof hasn't even been built yet so of course it's not going to work and of course there are problems with it. It's not built yet!

I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss published radio reports as "rhetoric."

Semantics. "Published radio report" whatever. Not buying it.
